Where was George Washington buried?
George Washington, first president of the United States, died on December 14, 1799. He died in a bedroom of his plantation home, Mount Vernon. Mount Vernon, which is open to the public, is located 16 miles south of Washington D.C. Washington loved his home so much that his will stated he was to be buried on the grounds of the estate. He is buried there along with his wife, Martha.
