Eros Ramazzotti is an Italian singer who has found popularity all over the world. Born on October 28, 1963 in the Rome suburb of Cinecitta, Ramazzotti began dreaming of a career as a singer when he was just a child. He found some success early on, but it was the release of his third album, In Certi Momenti, that cemented him as a pop icon. The album sold over 3 million copies. In 1995 he began to enjoy world wide fame after participating in a European summer concert along with several American performers including Rod Stewart and Elton John.

While many might think the answer to this question is Italy, it is actually the Greeks who deserve thanks for this popular food. It wasn’t until the 18th century that the flat bread dressed with oils and herbs made its way to Italy. The Greeks might have been first, but credit does go to 19th century Italy for pizza as we know it today, topped with tomato sauce and cheese. A chef named Rafaelle Esposito created the first pizza topped with tomatoes and cheese especially for Queen Margherita who was fond of the original version. Chef Esposito’s creation quickly became a hit and the rest, as they say, is history.
